Sinú THROW Aqua

Our unique throw is handwoven on a vertical loom with embroidered patterns from the Sinú culture. "The Pre-Columbian SINÚ civilization emerged in the fertile flood plains of the Caribbean lowlands of present-day northern Colombia."(1) They were very virtuous goldsmiths, weavers, and potters. The zoomorphic iconography found in the Sinú gold work was the source of inspiration for our embroidered throw.

Our Aqua Throw represents Water. "Before the arrival of Spanish explorers, the Sinú developed a highly sophisticated network of drainage and irrigation canals, earthworks, and raised fields to manage the floods that occurred seasonally in the inland deltas, and to cultivate the rich alluvial soils they yielded. Extending over 500,000 hectares, this was the largest contiguous area of land under cultivation in the ancient Americas”. (2) Today the lowland on the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is one of my favorite landscapes in Colombia, the region that gave name to La Isla Home Collection.

Our Orange Throw represents Gold. "Gold was associated with the sun and it's golden rays and thought to be a source of sacred and celestial power." (3)

This beautiful centerpiece is complemented by a framed hand weaved macramé tassel that makes this throw not only cozy for a relaxing moment at home but also a statement in your interior environment.
