As a society, we are constantly disposing of furniture because it has become too burdensome to transport. Design easy-to-pack, easy-to-transport products for movement, rolling, interlacing, collapsing, or folding, with emphasis on functionality and high quality, in order to effect permanence rather than disposability.

Furniture for Urban Nomads was inspired by traditional nomads, masters of the techniques of moving and packing efficiently. These chairs are the result of transforming two-dimensional surfaces into three-dimensional objects using materials that have soft surfaces like fabrics, combined with structural materials like plastic. Color and surface design are very important in order to enrich these three-dimensional objects and their relation to space, creating visual and tactile stimuli.

Fair Chair is a contemporary design inspired by one of the most archetypical pieces of furniture in the urban landscape of New York City, The World Fair Bench. Concept Designed for the Battery Park Foundation.
In collaboration with Natalia Porter

Fair Chair will be made of a tubular iron structure into which a roto-molded piece is incorporated. The tubular iron structure will be polyester coated because of its excellent durability to weather, corrosion and UV light exposure. A powder-coated finish is very resistant, ideal for an outdoor environment.

The seating area will be roto-molded, a lightweight piece with good structural integrity. Rotational molding is a method of fabrication suitable for low quantities and allows for low tooling costs, and facilitates multiple color applications with out a substantial increase in the production cost. Roto-molded products have excellent load bearing characteristics.
